How to authentication to WebServices

Hallo,


I'm new to WebService ;-)
I need to make a WebService for other applications that need to just insert some records in one table. But I need authentication...and more then this I need to pass some security code that is unique per applications.
I read some other posts but not sure how to do that...
Where (source/embed) I read User & Password or check for some other parameters?
