Parent Child table - expand/contract child records
« on: August 26, 2014, 11:17:46 PM »
Hi

Besides creating a source procedure to create this is there a clever way to create this effect between a parent and child table?
http://vasterad.com/themes/astrum/faq.html

I don't see anything, but I have seen some amazing things come out of NTWS,
with relations between parent and child files, span rows, hide this, hide that, throw in some CSS and it's all smoke and mirrors

thanks

Johan

Hi Bruce

The effect of a parent record having the + or - and then the child records appearing directly below the parent.
Like the FAQ question on the web page

Currently I'll probably use a popup screen to show those, but quite like the simplicity of the displaying directly below the parent.

There are a few ways of getting this effect, you can either have "multi-row" browses (see "Multi-Row example).
You can use that approach, but then embed a browse inside a browse on each row.

So the short answer is "yes", it should be reasonably straight-forward to do this.
