SSL Comodo Certificate
« on: June 12, 2014, 04:18:56 PM »
I'm almost there I think
NT 8.16
Cl 9.0

Created the CRT file and the key file as instructed.
Issued a CRT file by Comodo
Copied the CRT file from Comodo and the Key file from my PC to the server

(I generated the crt file on my PC not the server - does this matter?)

Seems to work with Chrome and IE but I get an error using FireFox (See image)
Not sure what I am doing wrong?

Comodo said I need to install the Intermediate certificate - no idea what this is?

Brian.

click on the technical details to see more info.

Also, try to use Firefox from another machine and see if you still get the error. Firefox can sometimes remember a bad connection and so even though all is good it reports that error. Testing from another machine should indicate if it is a problem or not.

Hi Brian,

To check your certificate use something like http://www.digicert.com/help/

That will allow you to get around browser issues and get a real indication of whether its working correctly.

If you need an intermediate certificate you should have received it from your SSL company.

It will be an additional .CRT file that has a name that makes no sense to you. Mine is GD_BUNDLE-G2-G1.CRT and comes from GoDaddy. Just chuck it in the same folder as your main .CRT and .KEY files.

Regards
Bill

Thanks Bruce, yes that was it - I thought I read all the docs but missed this completely.
The file they sent me was not obvious to me it was:
AddTrustExternalCARoot.crt
They did send me a bundle file which did n ot seem to work
In the merged crt file I put a blank line between the cert code, don't know if this made the difference.

Thanks all.

oops - I had already accepted the exception on my PC for the SSL cert so It did not work on the other test PC.
I get the following details
www.eetportal.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

Thanks
Brian
