What report-tool?
« on: February 27, 2014, 04:30:59 AM »
Hi all,

I'm new to reporting in NT. What do you use for reporting?
I guess that reports might be executed simultaneously so I'm not sure if all report-tools work well in this situation.

I think of generating PDF files.

TIA,
Nick

Hi Nick,

I currently use the normal Clarion reports with PDF-Tools.

Busy re-writing all the Clarion reports to use Fomin Report Builder with PDF-Tools.

Hi Johan,

Yes Fomin Reporter seems a good choice.
Do you have to pay for PDF-Tools per install/user? Bit expensive.

Thanks,
Nick

Pretty complex and confusing at first glance.
Does the enduser/viewer need Flash to show the report?

Thanks,
Nick

Looks very impressive. What do you use? The WebReport version?
How do you feed data to it?

Thanks,
Nick

You can use anything as long as the result is a file (usually a PDF) which will get sent to the browser. There is direct support built n for normal clarion ABC or Legacy reports, Fomin, PDF-Tools, xPDF, Clarion EE PDF engine, CPCS and Right Reports. Personally I'm using Right Reports.

Yes I know this and it's fine.
The question was in particular aimed at how to feed data to SimulSoft reporting.
It's a very impressive tool that also offers a web-based designer.
They have some examples but these are meant for ASP.

Thanks,
Nick

Your decision is good. I am using Ultimate but winform is enough. Just create .PDF and send it as a file. Nothing more. If you want more functionality use PHP version. I tried it with success but never bought. As I said winform is enough.

Best regards,
