IE mishandles Tabs when grphs are reset
« on: February 03, 2014, 04:23:22 PM »
Hi

Am running NT 7.34 and have found an IE 10 problem.

My Form has multiple tabs and on one of them I have had a single graph.  I added a Tab to host two new IG2 graphs (so now three graphs altogether).  In IE the peculiar behaviour was that after hitting 'Calculate' which causes all of the graphs to be reset the browser would not respond immediately to a tab click.

Looking at the Web Server Log, the three graphs are received by the browser (GET/images/<blah>.png) but then the tab change event was not received (GET .. tabchanged).  This situation would persist for some seconds then suddenly a tab change would work again and the new tab hosting the graph (correctly displayed) could be selected.

The problem does not occur with FFox or Chrome.

My blood tells me that someone is bound to say - 'give us an example' but being ever hopeful I am not making one up yet in the hope that I'll get lucky.

Thanks.

Keith

Ok, here it is.  It seems to act a little differently now that it's cut down.  You execute via: http://127.0.0.1:88/playpen under IE10.

Immediately after first connection everything works ok - you can see all of the graphs and tab change works.  After clicking on 'Calculate' you will see that the process completes and if you immediately click on the 'Graphs' tab nothing will happen.  If you look at the log the click won't have arrived. The next click though will work (whether you click on 'Graphs' or 'Weight/Power/Drive'.

I've only run this half a dozen times but this seems to be the behaviour though on my full version you could sometimes click many times and get no response.  The 'dead' time was variable.

Your turn and thanks

(BTW - compiled in C9)

Does this admission mean that you will be docked some of your stars?

I have put this problem on the very back burner for the moment and its solution is not necessary for me to continue but the matter may be resurrected later.  For now, not knowing is ok.

Thanks anyway, if I find out anything I will let you know.

Cheers

yes, leave it on the burner for now. We can investigate further later on if you like. Of course if a user wants to use IE then they can expect, and are presumably used to, stuff like this happening from time to time.
