Using [Enter] to select an item from a Popup Lookup
« on: January 11, 2012, 04:05:42 PM »
We have a new NetTalk 6 site where the users have asked us to make what seems like a small change.

There is a form that has a couple of popups on fields asking for codes etc.  The associated popup lookups work perfectly fine if the users CLICK on the lookup record and click on SELECT to bring them across.

However, years of habit means that a lot of users are simply pressing ENTER when they have highlighted the lookup record they want.  All this does is close the Lookup popup without returning any data.

Any way that we can change the functionality of this feature to that an ENTER will also do a SELECT on the popup lookup?

Cheers,
Devan

Hi Devan,

Example 31 is probably the best for various lookups etc. I've tried there, and I'm not seeing the popup close on enter.
Type updating an invoice Linitem - select a product and press enter. In FF an IE here, nothing happens. (indeed the enter is completely ignored.)

Now I agree, it would be nice if the Select button was the default button there (and that's something I can look into) but first I think I need to figure out why, for you, the browse is closing.

Cheers

UPDATE: Bruce - I installed 6.14 today and tested, and yes, the ENTER key is now ignored completely, which is better than closing the browse as before.  Looks like it is fixed for now, but yes, it would be good if we can opt for the SELECT button to act as the default in some cases.
