Hi Bruce,

As I understand from reading your replies, NetTalk5 is on it's way.
There is a significant difference between NetTalk 4 and NetTalk5 and that is the shift of the version number.
Does this imply there will be an (understandable) price tag attached to NetTalk5?

Hi Rene,

There are a number of "important" changes that I want to make, but my goal is to make the upgrade as smooth as possible. The list of exactly what will, and won't be in the first build is somewhat fluid, but hopefully the changes will both be "significant" and "transparent" at the same time.

My main goal was to get to a very stable Version 4, which is also "feature complete" in the sense that you can make pretty complete apps with it. That goal has been reached, although I'll still do maintainance builds for Ver 4 for a bit.

The goal for NT5 is to update the Javascript, and also add a bunch of new scripts. Some of the old ones will fall away and will be replaced with others.

Very much so. There's a huge upgrade price tag, which will make Tesla sports cars seem cheap by comparison.

Seriously though, yes it's been 3 years now since NT 4 shipped, and it's an ongoing project, so it needs an upgrade charge to keep it going. The PHP support also has an extra charge as well because it will require an Addon called OddJob. Fortunately I've managed to make the requirement optional though so you only need it for the PHP support.

Cheers
Bruce
