FileUpload new format vs Old Format
« on: February 28, 2013, 06:09:30 AM »
The new format is much more powerful that the old.
But the old was much easier and more straight forward for the user, especially if there is only 1 file to choose and upload.
I have ticked the use old format button on the template, but the start button and new format still seems to be generated ?
I want a simple upload button, no start upload etc....

Hi Mike,

I'd have to disagree here Mike.
The trade off is that for having to click the "start" button you get to see a progress bar. For any but the smallest of files this makes the form "better" because in the past users are confused when they click on "Save" and "nothing happens" for maybe several minutes.

Bear in mind you can rename the text on the "Add files" and "Start" buttons, so you might want to call them "Choose File" and "Upload" or whatever.

That said, the old button should still work - I'll look into that.

cheers

Thx Bruce , my file is a fairly small excel spreadsheet, so they don't really see the progress bar. and there is no wait period.
I would appreciate if you could look into getting the not so nice old version working again.

Hi Mike - Unfortunately I haven't been able to duplicate the problem. I changed the setting on the File Upload example but the upload seemed fine.

I have tweaked the example, moving the "create thumbnail code" a bit, so it works for both upload types - but the fields on the form looked as I would have expected (ie the "old way".)

are you setting any css on the input field?

cheers
