ServerAppWizard broken?
« on: February 04, 2014, 07:01:30 AM »
I'm trying to wiz up a new NTWS app but something is not right.

After creating a new empty Clarion app I start the wizard and leave all the prompts as is, selecting only one file from the dict. When I hit Finish I get a prompt from Generator asking "Do you want to delete module MyApp001.clw as well?" and two buttons, Yes and No.  Regardless of the button pressed Clarion throws an Access violation exeption. When I restart Clarion the app is there but it doesn't compile. Errors say something like Unknown identifier PServer plus some more indicating that the generation is somehow incomplete.

>> new empty Clarion app

I hope you mean ABC app? As in, I hope you used the term generically and not in the "Using Clarion (Legacy template chain)" sense.

>> When I hit Finish I get a prompt from Generator asking "Do you want to delete module MyApp001.clw as well?

this is normal - I usually click on Yes.

>> Regardless of the button pressed Clarion throws an Access violation exception.

That's not desirable - if you email me your dict, and the name of the table you are wizarding on, I'll see if I can duplicate.

cheers

Hi Bruce,

Yes, it's ABC. And everything is freshly installed on a new laptop with Win8 PRO 64 bits - outside of Program Files. And the AV is told to stay away.

Actually, I don't even need a dict to see the error. Immediately after clicking Yes to the "Do you want to delete ... a well" I get the error shown on the first attachment.
Then I have to restart C9 and a compile gives the errors shown on the second attachment.

the second error is a bug in C9, fixed in C9.1
Just open the WebServer procedure and it sorts it out.

cheers

Ha, amazing! That's why some folks call themselves specialists. They know the secrets  ;) (That's what I normally do myself)

And I understand your points made on ClaLive today about you having to spend time dealing with problems that aren't really yours.

Thanks Bruce
