Recommended FTP at Server
« on: August 06, 2013, 06:26:40 AM »
Usually, I have local access to servers for the purpose of updates, but recently was out of state for a week and needed to upload some files to a server and I realized that I had not incorporated any tool to accept FTP uploads.

What is the recommended approach or tool with a NetTalk web server so that files/static pages can be uploaded to the server from a remote client FTP upload program like Coffee Cup (or others)?

While I'm not a big fan of FTP - I use the FileZilla FTP server on our servers for uploading files. It take a little bit of getting used to (the user permissions are easy to overlook) but once up and running it works well.

Thanks Bruce.
You seem to imply that you prefer to use some other approach to upload files to the server rather than FTP.  What other approach would you use?

I _prefer_ HTTP. But that doesn't mean I don't use FTP. HTTP is a lot cleaner though, and is a lot easier to automate batch uploads.
In practice FTP is good for manual uploads.
