Locator Position in NT7.16
« on: July 23, 2013, 10:11:39 AM »
Note: I am unable to upload the small jpg screen files due to the "upload folder is full" error message.

Hi Bruce,
On the NetWebBrowse NT7.06  template, when the navigation buttons are set to appear above the browse and the “Break after Last button” is uncheck, the Locator field appeared on the same line as the navigation buttons. See locatorpostionNT7.06.jpg. When the same settings are used with NetWebBrowse NT7.16 the locator is position above the navigation buttons and browse is placed inline with the browse table. See locatorpostionNT7.16.jpg. The table position problem can be corrected by checking the “Break after Last button” option. However the locator remains above the navigation buttons. Although not critical, I prefer the screen real estate savings of the locator inline with the navigation buttons as per NT7.06.
Thank-you
Rob

Hi Rob,

I'll try and get the uploads folder made bigger, or some old stuff deleted.

But I think I duplicated the issue from your description;

a) yes, I think "Break after last button" should be on, at least for now, in the case where nav is above and update buttons are below.

b) the arrangement of the locator and nav buttons can be done with a css tag added to the locator. I agree having the locator on the same line is a plus, especially if you "minimize" the size of the locator.

Aside: I often do this by suppressing the locator prompt, setting the "placeholder" to search, and setting the Locator field size to 10 or 15. Also I tend to not include the "Clear" button, and possibly set the "Search button" to be only an icon. Anyway playing with the options it's possible to make a fairly small locator.

So back to the css - on the browse css Classes tab you can set the class for "Locator" to be either
' nt-left'
or
' nt-right'
This will cause the locator to be to the left of the nav buttons, or to the right, respectively. (I prefer the locator on the right - but that's a personal preference.)

Cheers
Bruce

Thanks Bruce, that did the trick. Only that the class nt-right moved the locator to edge of the right side of the form and not next to the "Last" button as that occurred in NT7.06 without the break. I am still much happier that the locator and navigation button share the same rows.
