Update web folder question
« on: February 13, 2012, 06:47:42 AM »
I have upgraded to the latest version of NT6 but am testing something on the server ina  live scenario. I am using the previous version web folder files on purpose.

Is it safe to run say v6.16 of NT6 but with updated web folder files belonging to v6.17? Or MUST the web files version match the exe.

The reason is that I want to send a net of web files to the server but remain on a previous version of the app itself.

Hope that makes sense.

John

They should always match. That's not to say your app won't work. Sometimes it will, it just depends what Bruce has changed and other times you get subtle weird problems so your app mostly works. I can't think of 1 good reason not to have them match.

If your reason is you want to test on the new version but still keep the old version than take a look at MACS. See Bruce's webinar on the subject on Clarionlive (about no 145 I think)
