Hiding port number.
« on: January 12, 2012, 08:38:34 AM »
Probably stupid question: is it possible to "hide" port number for user on some server.
Example: server with port number http://serveronline.com:88
server with hidden port: http:serveronline.com

If the server is on port 80 then it is effectively "hidden".
I don't know of any other way to omit the port numbers from the address.

Cheers

What I do is on my domain name at Godaddy, i forward the domain name to my ip address plus port number.  ie: www.skipsdomain.com is forwarded to 123.45.678.123:88  The user doesn't have to type the port number, but it will appear in the browser address window along with the numeric address.

Not sure if that is what you wanted or if you want the port number to be completely hidden.
