Variable saved as BYTE will not update

Perhaps a spinn off of my latest questions here.
I have a variable TASK:SOLVED, which is defined as a BYTE in a TPS file.

I have tried both to EIP it in a browse (Checkbox) and use it as a checkbox or a number in a form.
Nothing happens to the tps file.
Does nettalk not support byte?

There's no problem using a Byte.
Perhaps an example is in order?

Is the Byte in the primary table of the browse, and form?
