PDF Preview not aligned when app running in Self Service
« on: February 18, 2018, 04:27:00 PM »
Hi, Im running a NT app with Self Service activated.
All good except that the PDF report preview( and resultant print )
are not aligned properly despite altering the printer options.

When the Self Service is disabled the preview and report are perfect.
is there an issue and or a fix?

using Self Service V 3.49 and Report to PDF  with SV PDF Generator.

thanks
Richard

Hi Richard,

I recommend running the service under the same user account as when you run the Exe.
In windows Printers are attached to user accounts, and it sounds like you are running the service under the services account, which may have different printer settings.

So go to windows services manager, and change it there.

cheers
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for your reply but I have not resolved the Print Preview problem I have when running a NT report from an App running as a service from Self Service.
When the NT app is NOT running as a service the Report previewer correctly displays in portrait mode, however, when the App is running as a service the Report preview displays in Landscape mode which is incorrect.

I have checked the User Accounts on the Windows 10 PC and there is only one user.
This app needs to be running as  a service so I would appreciate some guidance please.

Thanks,
Regards,
Richard

Hi Richard,

We get the exact same problem when our service is running under an account with no printers. Win10 is probably like Server2012 and without some black magic you cannot assign printers to the service account.

So i'd double check what bruce said and edit the service setting to run under an account you can confirm has a default printer.

Regards
Bill

Yeah, but the service does not run as this user (by default.)
That User Accounts list is for the "human users". Windows has a bunch of other users, one of which is the Services user, where services usually go.

To change this;
a) run services.msc
That's the service manager
b) find your service in the list - right click and properties;
c) Logon tab
d) set it to "this account" - and enter the user name an password for your user.

then restart the service (or better yet reboot the machine to make sure it's all working right.)

Cheers
