Unable to connect from internet
« on: August 22, 2013, 10:26:14 AM »
I have started my server and it works using 127.0.0.1:88 it also works from the LAN, but when I try to access it from an outside computer I get a message saying it can not connect.

I have the router set to accept port 88 on the server machine 192.168.1.135

What am I missing to get this working?

Thank you

Dave

Your router is port forwarding 88 to   Local ip 192.168.1.135 PORT  88, correct? the outsideIP:88 should work
double check for software firewall on the Local machine it needs to allow port 88 as well.
(probably ok if 192.168.1.135:88 works on the lan)
Note: on some environments you might not be able to use the outsideIP when *inside*
I use my iphone - not on the wireless to test in these cases.

Thanks for the reply Poul.

You are correct, I have the port set correctly.. The firewall is off for testing. I am trying to access from an outside machine.

found the problem.  I needed to have a static ip address in the router.

Works now  ;D
