I am working on a vertical market app that uses Nettalk to remotely access data. Pretty much mom and pop operations. They can use the numeric ip address or get a domain name. Either will work fine.
My question is... what is the best way to explain the nettalk side, how to forward port 88 on their router, setting up an internal static ip on the nettalk pc, getting a domain name, etc.
I have basically just written up what needs to be done and why, and recommend if they are not comfortable with doing it, to call their computer person/company or the geek squad. I also include a link to
www.portforward.com for additional information.
Does anyone do more than this, with a complete 'how too'? I think I want to shy away from explicit instructions to avoid liability if they screw it up, but where is that line? <g>
Thanks for any ideas you guys have on the subject.
