File open in tester display
« on: December 30, 2011, 12:15:48 AM »
Has I am unsure if this is even an NT6 issue although it only ever happens to my server exe. Every so often I cannot compile my app as the exe cannot be deleted. If I go into DOS and try to delete the exe I get "File Open in Tester Display".

Usually the only way to delete it is to go into safe mode, delete in DOS and then all is OK.

Cannot find any reference to this on Google or the general NG's. Any ideas please?

BTW the file is not running in Task Manager and is not running as a service. It happens in batches for a few days then all of a sudden stops for a couple of weeks. Something is hanging on to the exe but cannot see what.

sounds like you've got some process open - so I'd look in Task Manager to see what's there next time it happens.
If you're using a network drive it may have to do with something networky...

Thanks Bruce. I did check the Task Manager and which services were running but nothing was there.

Weird as it only ever this application exe I am working on it has ever happened to.

I wonder if it is my backup that is doing it maybe although again it never happens to any other files.
