Bug in menus?
« on: December 11, 2011, 05:30:33 AM »
Although a wizard generated app I do not think it is relevant.

2 things really - a bug and a request.

Bug - When you have the Home menu item (can be any style) and you add another Item, Home is repeated.

So in the attached image the blue was added for 1 item and the purple for a subsequent item.

Request - is it possible to have the Home menu  not displaying Home so you just click on the menu header? Seems odd to have to click on the header, open it then click on the link. Again same for any menu style.

You have a URL on the menu itself, and sub-items under that menu as well. It's best to choose one or the other. the multiple-generation is a bug (which will be fixed) but in practice if you are going to have items in a menu, then remove the URL from the menu itself.

no, it's not for any style - and that's the key issue. The Double-Drop menu allows for the Url to be clicked - but the TaskPanel and accordion do not. Because of the ability to change menus at runtime the extra item is generated for accordion and task-panel.

In desktop mode the double-drop opens the menu on a mouse hover, so you can have a url on the menu, _and_ menu items - however this doesn't work on touch interfaces (in desktop mode) so is considered fairly poor form.
