Title: NT app PhoneGap question
Post by: Poul Jensen on September 15, 2016, 11:11:16 PM
Hello,

The NT Apps documentation is all about disconnected apps.

Can NT app mBuild be used to create PhoneGap Build projects for standard NT web-apps or is this only applicable for disconnected apps ?

Cheers
/Poul

Hi Poul,

Really only disconnected apps.
There's nothing stopping it from being extended to web apps in general, but what would be the point? at that point the app would "require a connection to work" so I'm not sure what the benefit of doing that would be.

Hi Bruce,

The only thing you would achieve is a more standard App look and feel and a standard way of installing and getting an icon on the smartphone's start screen.

If that is worth the trouble I do not know.

Hi Poul,

you can already add an Icon to the "desktop" which points at a web site/ web app.
ie it's kinda like "bookmarking" a web address on your desktop.

Thanks - I am aware of that.
It is just not as streamlined as a real app.

On the other hand you avoid the various app stores, so that makes distribution easier :-)
