Post by: broche on June 13, 2014, 01:41:04 PM
NT 8.16
Cl 9.0

Downloading some large files (30mb Plus) these are AVI files for training.
The system Times out about half way through
I know the setting for upload file size but do not know if there is one for downloading file size or if this is browser based?

What does the Session Timeout field in Advanced do - is it hours amd mins or mins and seconds?
Could this be why the session is timing out?

Tested using IE and the download worked
Tested using Chrome and it failed - giving a network error

Hi Brian,

I think it might be something to do with your network.
I regularly serve large files from NetTalk - all the webinars for example are served from a NetTalk server, and they are from around 80 megs and up. Granted that's not SSL, but I don't think the SSL part should matter.

And I don't _think_ the session timeout should play any part - that's an intriguing question I'll think about. But that's easy to test - simply make the timeout longer on the WebServer settings. (it's in hours:minutes there).

Cheers
Bruce

Switched VM provider and all works now.
I am using 1and1.  Previous provider was Atlantic.net, although it was probably my lack of understanding that caused the issue.

Thanks.

Oh No - back again
Looks like the following is true:

Downloading large files from server.

Non-SSL the download is faster and the session does not time out
Make site SSL the download takes longer and the download fails.
This is consistent

Bruce - would this have anything to do with the download fail?
