Title: C72 NTWS5 PR18 error 2
Post by: Alberto on June 08, 2010, 11:51:57 AM
Another error,
It is filtering all accent letters, like á, é, í, ó, ú, etc
Compiled with C71 PR14 you get "Análisis", with C72 PR18 you get "Anlisis"

Hi Alberto,

In a recent PR the support for foreign characters was much improved. However your page needs to be on 'utf-8' to make the most use of it.

See here for more information
http://www.nettalkcentral.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=36&topic=1393.0

Also - at the moment I've coded support for all the "Polish" characters when converting from UTF-8 to Charset and vice-versa. If you have more characters please let me know and I can work with you on adding your language(s) requirements.

Cheers
Bruce

Bruce,
I´ve read the link but I dont understand it very well.
My web page writes and read data shared with a normal clarion app.
I had 'ISO-8859-1' intead of 'utf-8'.
I´ve change the code to 'utf-8' but now all my characters (spanish) get translated to extrange ones.
The problem is not only with the data but with the characters entered in the template, like the headers, etc. See attached image.
Is there any way to bypass this feature? it worked ok with previous vertions.
If you need the special spanish character are:
áéíóúñÁÉÍÓÚÑ
But entering a "Last name" may be needed more characters like ùàòìèùçÇäëïöü

Hi Alberto,

The utf-8 approach will be better for you in the long run - and I've added support for the Spanish characters you mentioned to PR20. A new equate
net:StoreAsSpanish
has also been added.

That said, if your site was set to 'ISO-8859-1' it should have updated without a hassle - so it looks like there's a bug there somewhere. To debug what I need is a Clarion data file with some spanish characters in it. Putting some spanish names into example number 1, and sending me the TPS would be perfect.
Feel free to tweak the example app as well so there's some spanish in a heading, or button name, etc.

Then I can see where the mapping is going wrong.
Thanks
Cheers

Hi Bruce,

Attached goes the web1 example, app (C72) and Maiboxe.tps.
I´ve added
-"'Spanish charactters between brackets (áéíóú)'" as the mailboxes browse header.
-Try to add (áéíúó) to the Albert mailbox but the form delete those chars when you press save
-Open the mailboxe.tps and add manualli (áéíóú) to the Bruce Record.

Hope this helps
Alberto
